Who are we ?

A family home for 3 generations.

The Kalinka cottage was created by the Zeller family to enhance and bring to life this large family home based on the work of previous generations.

Why Kalinka ?

Pepe “Did”, a peasant from the Odessa plain who bought the house in 1951, had a sentimental relationship with the trees he planted. In memory of his native Ukraine, there were around the house not only oaks, which bore the names of poets, but also this shrub with red fruits, the guelder rose, which is affectionately called “Kalinka” in the famous Russian song.

“A new stage with Solène & Kévin from 2025”

My name is Solène Degletagne, I am a professional pastry chef and passionate about gastronomy and nature. With my partner, Kévin, we have chosen to continue the history of this unique place with respect and gratitude for the work accomplished by previous generations. After several years of evolving in the world of pastry and gastronomy, I decided to make a long-held dream come true: to create a place where relaxation, conviviality, and pastry come together.

Originally from Lyon, we discovered the beauty and authenticity of the Drôme a few years ago when members of our family settled in Vercheny. Under the spell of this region and its landscapes, we were naturally led to take over this cottage in Vercheny-le-Haut, a place that perfectly embodies the charm and serenity that we wish to share with you.

Passionate about sharing my expertise, I have also created a website dedicated to my pastry creations, where I offer my handmade canelés for sale as well as pastry classes for all skill levels. Discover my gourmet universe here. Feel free to contact me to organize a class at the gîte if you’re interested!

Our goal is to offer you a unique experience, combining comfort, tranquility, and discovery of pastry with me if you wish. Whether you come with family, friends, or for a gourmet getaway, we will be delighted to accompany you and make your stay an unforgettable moment. Here, you can recharge your batteries, discover the region, or participate in a pastry workshop, all in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We look forward to welcoming you very soon to the Gîte de Vercheny-le-Haut, where you will feel at home.

Our ecological choices :

We opted for a wood chip boiler, which makes use of local wood. Our supplier is in a neighbouring village.
The recreation room of the old house and the bedrooms on the 1st floor have low-temperature underfloor heating.

For insulation, we mainly used ecological materials: cellulose wadding, wood fibre, lavender straw, etc.
A mixed water heater (solar and wood) has been in service since spring 2010 and 70 photovoltaic panels were installed in 2023.
