Hiking and mountainbiking in the surroundings

You can find in the “Diois” all sports can be done in the highlands. There are lots of possibilities of hiking, montainbiking, horseriding. Here are some proposals close to the house.

Walk in the vineyards

35 minutes without acclivity in the vineyards of Vercheny (accessible even with a pushchair…). Depature at the war monument in the hamlet of Peyrache (5 minutes walk from the house). Explanation of the different works in the vinyards.

The « Roc de Barry »

Halfday walks start at the house. Altitude difference 550 m; nice views on the Drôme Valley. Can also be done with mountain bikes.

The "Trois Becs"

The cliffs of the „three blibs“ at Saillans can be recognized from a long distance. On the top you’ll have a fantastic 360° view… and often strong wind.
Ascending from parking „Col de la Chaudière“ is quite easy, but rather steep in the last part. Take the road D156 from Saillans to Bourdeaux and leave your car on the pass (1047 m)
It’s a 3-4 hours walk ; Altitude difference 600 m

St. Benoît - Rimon

Well marked circular walk from St. Benoît in the Roanne Valley. Nice ascension to Rimon on the GR95a; way back over the Col de la Pouterle.
See walk-map IGN Dieulefit-Forêt de Saoû

Croix de Justin – Plateau de Solaure

In Die you can, in a 2 hours walk, get to the top of the Justin Mountain, next to the cross (Altitude difference 600 m) Description in the tourist office.
For the most courageous ones, (and the mountainbikers) you can cross then the plateau of Solaure and the pass „Col de Beaufayn“, descend to Aurel or St. Benoît and take the way back to Vercheny.

Glandasse

The huge grown range of mountains that you can admire entering the town of Die, attracts the enthousiastic hikers. On the top you’ll be in the natural reserve of Vercors.
Ascensions can be done in 4 hours from Valcroissant or in 2h30, from forest house “Le Chateau” above Romeyer.
A bit easier, but very nice: the 3-hours circular walk “Le Paradis” from Valcroissant
